Dr. Zalman’s private sector experience spans over forty years in private industry as a manager, director and executive in Human Resources and Operations, in such industries as Financial Services, Pharmaceutical, Heavy Automotive and Insurance, with such organizations as Electro-Optix, American Savings and Loan, Countrywide Financial Services, Warner-Lambert, USCI Bard, Zoecon, Sandoz, Roussel and Cummins Engine.
Dr. Zalman is certified in the following: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) from World-At-Work Society (formerly the American Compensation Association), the CCP is the highest designation with regard to the employee total compensation; Certified Materials Requirements Planner (MRP) from the American Materials Requirements Planning Society; Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Certified in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP’s) by the Federal Pure Food and Drug Administration (FDA); and Certified in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA & QC) by the American Society for Quality Control; Six Sigma Brown Belt & Black Belt; Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from Society for Human Resource Management; Accredited Diplomat in Employee Training and Development from the Personnel Accreditation Institute; Accredited Professional in Employee Health, Wellness, Safety and Security, from the Personnel Accreditation Institute. Dr. Zalman has trained and developed hundreds of managers and supervisors in managerial skills such as planning, organizing, delegating and developing subordinate staff. As a seminar leader and presenter, he has developed materials for QRI of Boston and Baker Communications of Houston.
In the public sector, Dr. Zalman funded the first Right-to-Read (U.S.O.E.) literacy academy in Illinois, while still a graduate student. He has worked with the Kansas Alcohol Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, Learning Libraries Program, as well as with the Jewish Community Center of Dallas, as Cultural Arts Director, and was Director of the Master’s Program in Education for Central and Western Kansas for Kansas State University and Marymount College of Kansas. Dr. Zalman serves as Adjunct Faculty for Metropolitan College of New York, and is the CASAC Coordinator for the College, as well as a volunteer Chapter Advisor for the Phi Theta Kappa, a college-wide academic honor society there.
Dr. Zalman holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in English Literature from Queens College of the City University of New York, a Master of Arts in Teaching with a major in Bilingual Education from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in Reading and Language from Northwestern University. Named an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow by the Sloan School of Management at M.I.T., Dr. Zalman earned a Master of Science in Management from the Sloan School.
