The Idea and our Model

The Global Tassels idea builds upon on the commitment to this generation to end extreme poverty, a mission in harmony, with millions of individuals and hundreds of organizations around the world, post-2015. Our ambitious plans are aligned with the notion, “to end poverty and share prosperity”.

Global Tassels is an international organization with a “Twin Goal” – to educate and to serve. The idea is to be part of the “challenge” and the “movement” to decrease the number of people living in poverty around the world while focusing on measurable outcomes that will determine success through education and community projects. GT’s vision is to have change agents who would transform their innovative ideas as contributing elements to any of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide college education opportunities for under privilege youth with leadership qualities living in the developing world and to support local community based organizations with programs related to poverty reduction.

History

Founded in 2014 by Dr. Elvin T. Ramos, Global Tassels is a US- based international 501(C)3 not-for-profit organization which provides tuition-free undergraduate college education abroad or in countries through our network of partnering colleges and universities.

To enhance our Student Leaders educational experience #GlobalTassels also aimed to provide global leadership workshops; English-language trainings; professional development opportunities; and long term funding for community projects related to the Sustainable Development Goals. We partner with colleges and universities in New York – DC – Los Angeles metro areas to support our scholarships.

Throughout 2014 and early 2015, GT delegates travelled to our pilot countries to build and secure relationships with various institutions and individuals. We work globally with private foundations, businesses, NGOs, community-based organizations, and the public sectors to identify our Student-Leaders who can excel academically and have the passion to give back but do not have the means to go to college.

Onward, our goal is to increase the odds for our Student Leaders to find success by receiving their higher education abroad or through a direct sponsorship. Ultimately, we want our Student-leaders to return to their country to lead and implement a meaningful project that will impact their community at large.

The vision is to build a network of change agents working to eradicate poverty around the world.
